Free Editing Software 💸

DaVinci Resolve 17
This powerful software has a huge range of features and the base version covers the average streamers' needs. Their last update included more than 100 new features in Nov 2020. The one big downside is the fairly steep learning curve if you're new to editing.

Upgrading: The paid Studio version is $295, but they throw in a Speed Editor keyboard.

HitFilm Express
HitFilm is accessible for beginners and features a simpler interface than DaVinci Resolve. There are fewer options for advanced color, audio, and visual effects, but the basics are there, and the editing features available are advanced. Available for Windows and Mac.

Upgrading: Their Supreme pack with all features unlocked will run you $69.

Two other editing programs worth mentioning are AVS Video Editor (Windows only) and Movavi (Windows and limited versions on Mac.) Both, however, export with logos and watermarks in their free versions.

Paid Editing Software 💰

Adobe Premiere Pro
This is the industry gold standard for professional level video editing. Hands-down the best feature set. If you're a student or a teacher, Adobe offers a huge discount for their creative cloud subscription (over 60%). Otherwise the annual subscription costs $239.88. You can't buy it outright, Adobe will only license Premiere Pro out to you.

A great choice if you like the idea of a premium video editor at an affordable price point. Flexible and robust, it's good for all levels of experience. The annual subscription at $69.99 includes unlimited use of their premium feature packs including visual effect, audio tracks, and sound clips, with more updates every month.

Outsourced (Agencies/Freelancers) 🤝

Another popular option for streamers short on time is to outsource their video editing needs to a content production agency focused on the gaming industry like ZygoMedia. You can also find and hire a freelancer to do your editing for you on a services marketplace like Fiverr. If you're a Pipeline member, we also offer a curated selection of affordable freelance editors in our Discord.
